Another Mislead From Media Matters

Not surprising.

- February 2006 -

By now, many have been made aware of the ugly politicalization of Coretta Scott King's funeral by graceless Democrats (Tuesday, February 7, 2006). In a laughable post, left-wing media site Media Matters is now claiming a "politicization of Ronald Reagan's funeral" in 2004.

Yes, folks. They're serious.

To try to compare the dignified and tasteful presentation of Ronald Reagan's funeral to the disgraceful displays at King's service is simply absurd. Nothing came even close to the blatantly personal and partisan attacks that were spewed in front of President Bush last week. It was simply a tasteless disgrace.

Media Matters also makes this misleading statement:

"... the Reagan funeral included no Democratic speakers, but a long roster of Republicans ..."

This is a great example of the very common misleading wordplay by Media Matters. Notice that they didn't write, "Only Republicans spoke at the funeral," because this would be incorrect. Rather they utilize some crafty semantics to deceive their readers.

The truth is that Ron Reagan, Jr., who spoke at his father's funeral, has said he is a registered Independent. In addition, he spoke at the Democratic National Convention in 2004. While technically he was not a "Democratic speaker," you could never label him as a Republican. See the deception?

In addition, Patti Davis, President Reagan's daughter, spoke at the service. This writer has been unable to identify her party affiliation, but judging from what we know about her politics, it's hard to believe she would be a Republican, either.

The delusional folks at Media Matters should read this.
